Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) is a kind of linear structure thermoplastic engineering plastic with excellent overall performance. American company AlliedChemical is the world's first to apply UHMWPE pipe to industry in 1957. Thereafter Hoechst in Germany, Hercules in America, Mitsui petrochemical company in Japan also apply UHMWPE pipe into industrial production. China earliest in 1964 successfully developed and put it into industrial production.
